Welcome! This month at WTOnline, we are exploring the ways God gifts every believer for service. When Jesus gave the Great Commission in the Book of Matthew, He did not exempt anyone. He did not qualify the word “go,” by excluding the extremely busy, the ill-prepared or even the immature.
Have you noticed that many believers are content with being spectator Christians? Jesus did not intend this. Christians are to be servants of both God and people; we should approach life with the attitude of asking “What can I give?” rather than “What can I get?”
When we ask children what they want to be when they grow up, they usually say, “a policeman,” “a nurse,” or maybe “a fireman.” If they are visionary, they might answer, “a doctor,” “a singer” or “a professional ball player.”
Let’s imagine asking Jesus what He wants us to be when we grow up. Suddenly, it’s a whole new question. I believe He would give the same answer to each of us. “I want you to be different—be a servant.”
If you have a place of service, I hope you will find encouragement this month from the articles that will be posted each week to keep pressing on—to not grow weary in well doing!
If you are not involved, ask God where He would have you began. Then visit your pastor. I know he will be pleased to help you find a place of ministry.
