According to an article in the Lexington Herald-Leader, the family living in a home in West Palm Beach, Florida, told a film crew it was OK to use the front lawn as a set for an episode of a television series. They knew cars would be crashing violently in front of the house. While the front yard was being blown up, the owner of the home was tipped off. He called from New York, demanding to know what was happening to his house. The people living in the house were only tenants and had no right to allow the property to be destroyed as the cameras rolled.
Many times we live under the mistaken impression that our lives belong to us. But Paul tells us we were "bought at a price" (1 Corinthians 6:20). We must remember God will call us to account for the ways we have used the life entrusted to us.
I have been known to say, "If I had that talent, I would willingly minister." Perhaps you have looked at another's gift and believed that person to be more blessed than you. Scripture tells us we won't be held accountable for how another person uses her gift, but we are responsible for how we use the gifts, money and other resources God has entrusted to us.
We have been given excellent resources to build and expand God's Kingdom. Jesus expects us to use these talents so that they multiply and the Kingdom grows. He asks each of us to account for what we do with His gifts.
While awaiting the coming of the kingdom of God in glory, we must do Christ's work. Are you willing to use faithfully what He has entrusted to you?
